The “Bike&Wine” trip in Bulgaria will bring you to a charming old-world Europe, where Eastern and Western cultures merge in one adventure on bikes! During the trip you will get in touch with many different cultures and civilizations: starting from the Thracian Tombs around Kazanluk, through the Roman ruins in Plovdiv and the Byzantine Churches and Monasteries in Rhodopi Mountains, to the Ottoman architecture in Koprivhstitsa and Panagyurishte and all that cycling! All visits are garnished with wine tasting of indigenous grape sorts in award winning wineries and home-made delicious Balkan cuisine.

Day by day itinerary:
Day 1: Koprivshtitsa Town-Museum & Sredna Gora Ride
The day starts with a ride through Sredna Gora Mountain Range to Panagyurishte town. We will be there just on time to enjoy a winery tour in Rumelia Winery and wine-tasting lunch with home-made dishes in Djudjeva Kashta.
Later we will head to Koprivshtitsa heritage town. We will visit a few houses-museums with traditional architecture from Ottoman period and the colorful Orthodox Church “The Dormition of Theotokos”.

Day 2: Starosel Thracian Temple & Rose Jam Workshop
Today we will ride to the Thracian Temple of Starosel.
At lunch time we will stop at “Stema” Winery for a traditional lunch accompanied by local wines and home-made cheeses.
In the afternoon we will head on bikes to the Southern footsteps of the Balkan Mountain Range. We will stop at Kalofer to participate in a workshop of making the most delicious home-made rose marmalade.

Day 3: Rose Valley Ride & Kazanlak Thracian Tomb (UNESCO)
Today we will head to Kazanluk, where we will visit the Kazanluk Tomb – UNESCO World Heritage Site and Goliama Kosmatka Tomb. Another highlight of today’s itinerary is Shipka Russian Church – The “St Nikolay” church is a true architectural masterpiece, built in the traditional style of 17th-century Russian cathedrals.
In the later afternoon: arrival at Stara Zagora Town.

Day 4: Thracian Lowland Ride & Plovdiv Old Roman Town
Today we head to Plovdiv, the second biggest city in Bulgaria. On the way we will pass through one of the best wine regions in Bulgaria, the Thracian Lowland. On the way we will stop for a wine tasting of the local wines.
In the afternoon: visit to the Old Town of Plovdiv, including the Roman Amphitheatre; Djumaya Mosque; Orthodox Church “St Konstantin and Elena” and will enjoy the unique architecture of the Bulgarian Revival Houses.

Day 5: Bachkovo Painted Monastery & Rhodopean Bucolic Villages
Early in the morning we head to Yustina Village, on the footsteps of Rhodope Mountains. The road goes through the best known wine region of Bulgaria, the Thracian Lowland. At the end of the ride we will reach Yustina Winery, where we will have a wine-tasting and traditional lunch.
In the afternoon: we will visit Bachkovo Orthodox Monastery.
At the end of the day we will enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the Rhodopean villages and in particular, Kosovo village where we will spend the night.

Day 6: Cycling Sofia City Tour
In the morning: transfer by bus to Sofia, followed by a cycling city tour of the capital. We will visit: the famous Rotunda Sveti Georgi; Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral – the symbol of the capital; St. Sofia Church; the National Theatre and the Russian Church “St. Nicolas”. Farewell dinner in a traditional restaurant with rich wine collection.
