South – East and central Bulgaria are a rolling sea of Mountains. They cover 30% of the land and their total number is 39, which provides a lot of diversity for someone in love with the Nature.
From the easy walks in the green meadows of the Rhodope Mountains – the bird place of the Thracian musician Orpheus, through the demanding hikes in the alpine Rila and Pirin Mountains, declared National Parks and home to the Seven Rila lakes, the highest peak on the Balkan Peninsula – Mt Mussala 2925m and the marble “Horse ridge” and Mt Vihren 2914m, to the 750km long Balkan Mountains, known for their remarkable flora and fauna, which end at the Black sea and therefore referred to as the spine of Bulgaria.
