This tour leads us through the oldest National Park in Bulgaria established in 1934 called Vitosha, famous for the natural stone river. From the highest peak of the Mountain – Cherni Vrah(2290m) we can enjoy a nice panoramic view over the nearest ridges, valleys, lowlands, lakes, and main ridges of Balkan Mt., which gave the name of Balkan Peninsula and also Bulgarian capital Sofia.
We start meeting at your place of accommodation.
We go up to Zlatnite Mostove (The Golden Bridges) and from there we pick up the trail to Cherni Vrah, with a panoramic view of Sofia. If the weather conditions are clear you can actually view the highest peak in Bulgaria – Musala (2925m), Maliovitsa peak – the most famous place for rock climbing, and the Seven Lakes area also, alongside other high peaks of the Balkans. There we’ll take a little break and have lunch at the shelter before we continue. From there on we’ll descend to the village Zheleznitsa. From the village, we will get on public transport (bus 69 or 98) back to Sofia.
The walk makes you feel part of nature as we’re all supposed to be.
