Day by day itinerary:
Day 1: Welcome to Sofia
Arrive in Sofia and transfer from the airport to your hotel. You will stay for 4 nights in Sofia. Free evening at your leisure.

Day 2: The home mountain of Sofia and walk through the center
Today you do a hike in Vitosha Mountains – declared a nature park in 1934, the first one of its kind on the Balkan Peninsula.
In the morning transfer from Sofia to Vitosha Mountains. The car will leave at Aleko area from where you will start hiking to the highest peak – Mt Cherni Vruh 2290. On your way you will walk through one of the reserve areas of the Mountain – Torfeno Branishte or the Turf Reserve which preserves the turf communities in the Subalpine zone of Vitosha. After about 1,30 – 2,00 of gently going uphill you reach the top where you can enjoy some drinks and snack as well as the great view towards Rila Mountains at the south.
From here you continue in west direction following the wide plateau of Vitosha. Enjoy great views to the whole city of Sofia and go down to Zlatnite Mostove (Golden Bridges) area famous of its stone rivers. From here you get a transfer back to Sofia city and your hotel.
In the afternoon your guide will come to pick you up for a guided, walking tour in the centre of Sofia. Along the way you will see all major cultural monuments. Among them are Alexander Nevski Cathedral, Saint Sofia Basilica, the Roman ruins, the mineral springs, the markets, etc.

Day 3: Iskar river gorge and Lakatnik rocks in Stara Planina Mountains
Today you do a hike in the Iskar gorge and the area of Lakatnik.
In the morning you go with the subway to the central railway station of Sofia. You catch a train which will take you for 1 hour to the area of Lakatnik, located in the Iskar gorge.
Your hike starts at the train station of Lakatnik village. First you follow the stream of river Petrovska which take you to the neighborhood Milanovo. From here you go down and reach a Soviet monument, located at the top of the Lakatnik rocks, 300m above Iskar river. The downhill continues walking on the top of the rocks and gently takes you back to the starting point.
You take the train back to Sofia and enjoy an evening at your leisure.

Day 4: Rila Mountains and the Seven Rila lakes
Toda you do a hike in the around the Seven Rila lakes and have an option to extend the tour to Rila Monastery.
In the morning you transfer from Sofia to Panichishte area in Rila Mountains (1,30 hours). Here you have the chance to board on a chairlift which will take you straight to 2100m where is located the first lake and the beginning of the hike. From here you go up and gently make your way through all of the seven lakes. They are located on different altitude with the last one being at 2500m, so depending on your fitness level we either go to the highest one or at least to the fifth.
You do a round tour and go back to the starting point. From here you transfer back to Sofia and your hotel for a farewell night.
